For California’s 11/4 general primary election, a few volunteers prepared this cheat sheet to give personal recommendations for new voters who want to prevent the resurrection of SCA 5.
We allow multiple recommended candidates or choices for a same question in some cases. Reasons will be given for each so readers can make their own final decisions.

Hugh Bussell (R) |
Liao’s recommendation: The only Republican candidate. Send a message to democratic party even though Eric Swalwell has a total upper hand in the election3. Otherwise, you can just re-elect Swalwell. |
17 |
Ro Khanna |
K. Zhu’s recommendation:
Both Dems, but Honda is famously supported by unions while Khanna is a pro-business DINO supported by a long list of SV high-tech companies. It has been expected that about ½ of Khanna’s Nov. votes will be from GOP voters. And this is the point that makes this race nationally interesting.
On issues most important to Chinese, Khanna formally objected to SCA-5 in 2/2014 while Honda beat a dead horse on the morning of SCA-5’s abortion day, 3/17/2014. Rhanna said before media that he would increase H-1B visa numbers and help Chinese engineers get a fairer share; he also said before media that high-tech jobs should be obtained with skills and merits, not races or skin colors. Both fired political cheap shots to court Chinese voters: Honda talked about some WWII history in Asia that he was never a part of and is not liable for, while Khanna said the Diaoyu Island belongs to China. When doing so, neither incurred any true political cost, and thus neither impressed me. |
