WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor will host a conference call to announce the release of a new report, The Economic Status of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the Wake of the Great Recession. Deputy Labor Secretary Chris Lu will be joined by U.S. Representatives Grace Meng and the Judy Chu, members of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, for a conference call with reporters and members of the AAPI stakeholder community to discuss the findings in the report and the importance of developing strong data for AAPI workers.

The report breaks down economic and labor market data of the Asian American populations by nationality, allowing a more precise look at how the various AAPI communities are faring during since the 2007-2009 recession. As the report will make clear, the AAPI community is very diverse and their economic situation similarly varies greatly. The new report is a follow up to and expands on The Asian American Labor Force In the Recovery report originally issued in July 2011.

The call will take place Thursday, August 28, 2014, 3:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. EDT. The call-in number is: 1-888-995-9166 and the passcode is 3174329.
